During both nights of our trip l I was so cold that I could barely sleep despite wearing 2 pairs of socks, trousers, t shirt, fleece and a hoodie all whilst in my sleeping bag in the tent. Just started to feel a slight chill on my upper half and although it was unseasonably cold, it was nowhere near freezing. I find that having a small square of reflective material (old emergency foil blanket) and additional foam mat really boosts warmth. We lose most of our heat from our heads in a cold environment and by ensuring a hood is built into a sleeping bag, this can be minimised.
